Three are many different ways that you can go about building your bird house. If you want your kids to have some input, it is important for the design to remain simple.
Then there is the posture of a bird. Believe it or not, birds perch differently. For example, a Flycatcher perches vertically (straight up and down) when on a branch while a Vireo perches horizontally (almost lying down) when on the same branch.
You're now armed with the education you really should have to make an educated buying decision!
The #1 thing to watch for is a cage that is sturdy, but can be broken down in a matter of 2 minutes or less, without the need for any tools. All of the top brand name bird cages have this feature.

Lights, camera, action: say bird!
Birds, like kids, are fascinating and interesting to see yet very difficult to shoot on camera.
A photographer of birds has a slew of questions to answer such as what kind of lens should one use, what shutter speed, among others.
Photographing birds requires a lot of patience and a technique that should be mastered through lots and lots of practice.
The following is advice and suggestions on how to make bird photo capturing effective.
What kind of film should be used?
It all depends on you. If your purpose is to shoot some birds in order to show pictures to your family or for you to have a collection of your own, using film negatives is the best option to take.
Meanwhile, if slides are used, these have to be processed and sent to a lab. However, the downside of slides is that if the exposure is incorrect, it is very obvious.
Using film slides also has advantages. The saturation of color in slides is better and if you are considering sending your bird photo slides in a portfolio, the images of your shots are better seen in slides. However, many agencies and publications are also considering receiving digital images as well.
Should film be fast or slow?
Additionally, binoculars with built-in digital cameras enable you to identify birds once you get home. These benefits will definitely enhance your bird watching. A great pair of binoculars will turn a mediocre experience into a great one. You can count on it!
Though authentic antique cages are pleasing to the eye, they are not the best home for your bird. Many antique bird cages are treated with chemicals or paints that can be toxic to your bird.
Feel a little unsure? Take some time to learn about the different kinds of birds that might be suitable pets for you and your family.
The materials needed to make your own hummingbird feeder are clear prescription vials with a fitted cap, a few feet of thin wire or heavy thread and transparent tape or scotch tape.
Let me explain; birds are a lot like us, they want space, they want sunlight, they want to look around. I recommend getting a cage with wheels so you can move your bird from place to place and give them a change of scenery.
Again, the answer is: it depends on you. What one really needs to know is that fast film increases the photo’s graininess, is less sharp and less saturated in color.
So if for example you are taking close-ups of colorful peacocks in the zoo, using a slow film that is best for the subject and available light, is a good choice.
However, if you need to freeze a particular action and there is low light available, a fast film is needed such as an ISO 400.
It is always a good choice to experiment and play with options that are available to you. Always have a selection of medium, slow and fast film available when you need them.
What film brand should be used?
Usually, if this question is asked of three different photographers, you would usually get three different answers as well.
So it is suggested that you experiment with various brands of film and in different situations of lighting. Then you will see the brand that best suits you.

| Most bird watchers are not experts on our fine feathered friends from the start. Instead of thinking, a bird is a bird is a bird, think again! Birds are a fabulous species that are as diverse as any other set of creatures on this earth. Birds are very interesting creatures. They are vertebrates, because like fish, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals, they have a spinal cord. |
Some of the more popular slide films and the ones used by professionals are Fuji Sensia, Fuji Velvia, Kodachrome by Kodak and Fuji Provia.
Observe that the choice really depends on you. There is no right or wrong answer when creating the perfect bird shot.
This is a tricky dilemma when shopping for a bird cage, but here is the general rule of thumb; the bigger the better, as long as the bar spacing isn't too wide. So what is too wide of a bar spacing?
If you're looking at a quality cage it will be constructed of steel (powder-coated ones should have steel underneath the powder-coat and stainless steel cages need to be 100% stainless steel, not plated or hollow) or iron.
Buying a pet bird can be quite an investment. After spending money on your bird and its supplies, you might be looking to save a little on the cage. Luckily, discount bird cages are available.
Bar spacing is also important because inappropriate bar spacing can result in injury to your bird. Avoid cages with fancy scroll work or intricate designs, and beware of doors, latches and other cage parts that could trap your bird.
Just like people, birds get hot and thirsty. Especially during the blistering summer months, your favorite flying friends may be roasting in their feathers. Help out your local birds and provide them with a shady spot to splash, play, bathe, and drink--a bird bath!
